Cross Platform Gaming Answers

Questions
  1. Give a definition of cross-platform gaming

Cross platform gaming is when people from all different platforms are able to play together simultaneously. Platforms include Xbox, Pc, iOS and android and Nintendo switch.

  1. Why is Microsoft’s “Better Together” update so exciting for the gaming world?

It is exciting as this new update allows people to play each other and they don't all need to have an Xbox or pc. They can still all play together and there preference of playing with a Xbox controller or a keyboard does not get affected.

  1. Why might there be concerns over online child protection?

One of the problems with cross platform and child protection is that Sony doesn't have control over other users from different platforms. If something harassment occurs or bullying Sony can ban the account but if it comes from a Xbox user it makes it very difficult as they need to contact Microsoft first.

  1. What is the future for cross-platform gaming, in your opinion? What are the pros and cons, for the games developers and the audience?

I thinks it's exciting as i have many friends that prefer playing on a pc instead of a console as its cheaper and being able to play together makes the gaming experience even better. Even if Sony has come forward with that idea, hopeful in the future they will integrate with it. There are pros and cons with this for game developers and the audience. A pro for the developer is that making people play together means a bigger audience and more people playing together but on another hand it is more expensive to build up the server and maintaining it. In addition a pro for the audience is that it exciting as you can play a friend from a different platform but a con is that if you find someone in a game and they have another console you cant add them as a friend.
