Audience research


Key Terms

Primary - 'new' information gathering by the researcher e.g. surveys, interview or observation.




Secondary - existing information gathered by the researcher e.g. reading books, online article.




Quantitative - anything that can be broken down into numbers for data gathering( normally done on a large scale e.g. surveys). Closed questions like: How Many? How often?




Qualitative - opinions, attitudes and beliefs to be gathered in sentence form (normally done on a smaller scale e.g. interviews, focus group). Open questions


What research would you perform?



Primary Research - survey; ask for their favourite flavours, the amount they would pay, colours they like to use for packaging, amount of liquid.




Secondary Research - advertising tips


Media  Research Main Journals; Ad Age, Ad Week, Campaign, MediaWeek, The Drum.
